DSHS Medical Transport Program

Texas Department of State Health Services: Medical Transport Program

If you are part of Medicaid or Children with Special Health Care Needs (CSHCN), the Medical Transport Program (MTP) gives you a ride to a hospital, clinic, or other healthcare location in your county or a nearby county for no cost.

If you have Medicaid or CHSCN, you qualify  if you do not have any other way of getting to the hospital or clinic.

To get free transportation, call the phone numbers below.  You call at least 2 business days before your trip. If you have a long trip, you need to call 5 business days before.

  • Information you will need: Medicaid ID, address to pick you up from, the information of the doctor or drug store you need to go to, the date and time of your doctors’ visit
  • Live in the Houston / Beaumont area? Call 1-855-687-4786.
  • Live in the Dallas area? Call 1-855-687-3255.
