What is Medicaid for Breast and Cervical Cancer?

It provides low-income women with Medicaid coverage after a diagnosis of breast or cervical cancer.  This includes medical care for the treatment of the cancer.

 

Can I get benefits?

Step 1: Check income eligibility 

Step 2: Check if you meet other requirements:

  • Diagnosed and in need of treatment for a biopsy-confirmed breast or cervical cancer, a metastatic or recurrent breast or cervical cancer, or certain pre- cancer conditions
  • Uninsured and not otherwise eligible for Medicaid
  • Age 18 through 64 (for cervical cancer)
  • A Texas resident
  • A U.S. citizen or legal immigrant.
  • Make less than the monthly family income limits

How do I Apply?

Step 1: Find a location for signing up in Harris County 

 Step 2: Take these documents with you:

  • Doctor’s final report about cancer
  • Driver’s license
  • Birth certificate
  • Social Security card
